Recognized as a Sustainability Innovator

Muhammad Dzikri Ahira Soefihara, founder of ReMIND (Recycling Materials Indonesia), has been named in Recycling International’s Top 100 Innovators of 2022, a prestigious recognition highlighting individuals who are making a significant impact in the recycling industry. His inclusion acknowledges his pioneering work in electronic waste (e-waste) recycling and sustainable waste management solutions in Indonesia.

Addressing Indonesia’s E-Waste Challenge

Indonesia produces approximately two million tonnes of e-waste annually, yet only about 5% is properly processed. To address this challenge, Soefihara co-founded a pilot recycling facility near Jakarta, focusing on mechanical and hydrometallurgical processes to recover valuable metals from printed circuit boards. This initiative serves as a model for sustainable e-waste recycling and aims to raise awareness about responsible e-scrap management across Indonesia.

A Recognition of Industry Leaders in Recycling

Recycling International’s Top 100 list is not based on company size, scrap volume, or revenue. Instead, it celebrates individuals who inspire others, drive innovation, and stand out as changemakers in the industry. The publication emphasizes that this is not a winner-takes-all ranking—every individual featured is recognized for their contributions, regardless of their position on the list.

The Top 100 is an evolving initiative, with Recycling International aiming to expand its scope and comprehensiveness each year. Those who were not included this year may still earn a spot in future editions, reinforcing the industry’s commitment to recognizing and promoting impactful sustainability efforts.

Remind’s Growing Influence in E-Waste Recycling

Soefihara’s inclusion in the 2022 Top 100 highlights ReMIND’s growing influence in promoting sustainable e-waste recycling in Indonesia. His work is paving the way for a cleaner, more circular economy by integrating innovative recycling technologies and advocating for better e-waste management practices.
